Tunnell Vision - May 2024

"Please remember it is imperative to keep a reasonable distance between the grill and your home structures for safety. Your home's siding may not catch fire, but it will sustain permanent and unsightly damage as it melts. To protect your home's siding from damage, place your grill or smoker at least 10 feet away from the exterior. If your patio doesn't extend past 10 feet, you may want to place it elsewhere, such as your lawn."

1. Never drive recklessly. Drive courteously. Obey all vehicle traffic laws and rules of the road.
2. Drivers must be AT LEAST 14 years of age. Children under 16 years of age may not operate a golf car after dusk. 
3. Never drive intoxicated or under the influence of any drug or narcotic.
4. Make sure the parking brake is set when not in use. Do not leave keys in golf car unattended.
5. Always yield to pedestrians. When passing, use extreme care.
6. Avoid distractions while operating the golf car just as you would in an automobile. Be safe and attentive -- avoid texting, reaching for objects, or other distracting tasks.
7. There is a limit of four (4) persons per golf car. Passengers may not stand in, hang off, or run alongside vehicles. 
8. Turn on headlights after dusk, or when visibility is low. Golf cars are not to be operated between midnight and 6am. 
9. Utilize golf car paths, when available. Drivers should not impede the normal traffic flow of motor vehicles. 
10. Carefully turn and look behind golf car before backing up.
11. Reduce speed due for hazardous driving conditions, especially blind corners, intersections, and inclement weather.

• U.S. COAST GUARD INDIAN RIVER INLET STATION OPEN HOUSE 5/18
  •  10am - 4pm @ U.S. Coast Guard Indian River Inlet Station
    •  The Indian River Inlet Station Open House is an opportunity for the public to meet the USCG personnel and other first responders, tour the station, and see the static displays. This is the first time, since COVID, that the Station will be open to the public and allow the public to see what these brave young people do each and every day. A number of displays are planned including SAR helicopter from USCG Air Station, fire equipment from Bethany & Rehoboth Beach, and Station rescue boats. USCG recruiters are scheduled to attend for those who have interest in learning more about a USCG career.

  • Join our resident Coast Guard Auxiliary members at the Lakeside Community Center to obtain your Boating Safety Certification.

  • 8AM - 12:30PM
  • Bayside - parking lot at the end of the Paradise Grill Guest Boat Slips
  • Seaside - Near Boat Ramp
  • Bring your boats, kayaks and jetski's down to Bayside or Seaside to receive its annual vessel safety check for free! Each vessel will receive a 2024 USCG Auxiliary Safe Boating decal when they pass the vessel inspection!

Get those batting and pitching arms ready cause registration is now open for the 2024 Sandlot Baseball season! Coach Bobby will be back in town shortly and we'll be ready to get this season in full swing!
