Summer is in full swing! Now is everyone's favorite time to go out and explore our local waters. Take a day to captain a deck boat and enjoy scenic views of our very own state parks, anchor up on a pontoon and have a picnic with the whole family, grab a center console and test your luck at your favorite local fishing hole...the opportunities are endless!
The weather has improved and so has the fishing. Rockfish, bluefish and flounder have been reported in the Indian River and Indian River Inlet. Head across the Rehoboth Bay to the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal to warmer water where locals have been hooking flounder and even trout!
While having fun, it is easy to forget the number 1 rule of boating...Safety first! Always have the proper number of PFD’s on board your vessel and maintain a sharp lookout to prevent an accident! Use ‘three points of contact’ while boarding and disembarking the vessel. Proper footwear can help prevent falls, and don’t forget the sunscreen!
For more information on how to get on the water the hassle-free way with Freedom Boat Club, call Rob Sweeney at (302)644-5998. The boat is waiting, but summer won’t!
