We hope you all had a great holiday season! Here's to hoping that 2021 is a much better year for all of us!

"Dad was a close friend to Isaac D. Short from Milford who was in the timber business. Mr. Short bought was is now Pot-Nets North [Creekside] and cut the timber. It had some cleared land which he did not want so he sold the entire farm to Dad consisting of 332 acres in 1941. This is known as the John E.M. Burton farm."

Dear Pot-Nets Residents,

Here is our concept plan for the Halfshell Pond Renovation Project in Pot-Nets Bayside. This area has been relatively untouched for the past 20 years. Recently, we have added new catch basins to improve drainage, renovated the fishing docks and golf car bridge, added one new dock, and repaved Half Shell Road. What was left was the remains of a tired landscape. As many as 9 Kwanzan cherries used to surround the pond, and only 3 of them remained in very poor condition. The typical lifespan of these trees are 15-25 years.  We also removed a timber retaining wall and 3 small Japanese Maple trees in the parking area of the pond.  This wall and planting were impeding drainage for the new catch basins.

The idea for the new plan includes a buffer for the pond edge as well as a mixed planting that will include grasses, perennials, shrubs and trees. The bulk of the new planting will be showcased on Halfshell Road, inlcuding the center medians, the area surrounding the parking/pull-in and the golf car bridge.

Views from residents’ properties located in this area were considered, through the selection of plant material that is mostly under 4'.  Some trees that will grow large will be limbed up as they grow, in order to retain the views – which will take some patience during the growing period.

We are trying to prepare the area now for planting in the spring. However, the ground is so wet that we are having difficulties, and we are doing our best to make sure we are on schedule.
