It is with both happiness and a little bit of sadness that we are announcing the retirement of Chief Steve Harris, Director of Public Safety. He plans to spend more time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoy some time out of uniform. He has decided to retire to West Virginia where he grew up.

Steve has worn different uniforms for several decades: an Army uniform, a Price Georges County Police Department uniform, a Baltimore City Police Department uniform, and a Tunnell Companies uniform. Steve was hired as our Chief of Security in 2011. Over these seven years, he has transformed the culture of what was once “Pot-Nets Security”, and turned it into “Tunnell Companies’ Public Safety Department.” Steve brought order and organization to the job, and used new tools to help with old problems.

Steve’s best quality is his ability to create positive working relationships with everyone he meets, from our own staff members, residents of Pot-Nets and Baywood, local Law Enforcement Officials, and those in the larger community that we live in. Steve is also sought after to speak to outside groups regarding community safety and community watch programs. This evening Steve was presented with his badge and rank insignia along with a plaque in a commemorative display box as well as a Letter of Commendation. We are sad to see Steve leave, but are grateful to have benefited from his time with us. Please join us in wishing the best of luck to Steve, and thanking him for his service!
